TeraLumen Solutions

Multi-layer coating measurement with TeraNIM and improve paint transfer efficiency

CURRENT SITUATION

Coating Thickness Measurement and Material Analysis: Most commonly used techniques at Paint Shop are Magnetic gauges and Eddy current. They are precise but it is a manual process.

Limitations of Conventional Techniques:

  • Require Direct contact with the surface
  • Can only measure specific spots, which limits finding paint issues, tracking drying, and mapping thickness across the entire vehicle.
  • Multi-layer coating measurements is not possible.
  • Less rapid than terahertz.

PROPOSED SOLUTION

  • We propose using TeraNIM™ to measure the multi-layer thickness and cumulative thickness of car paint on both metal and non-metal surfaces.
  • Terahertz technology offers non-contact measurement, ability to map the paint thickness distribution without the limitations of conventional methods.
  • It will help user to monitor the paint transfer efficiency also.
